Homesteading Festival

Join us in beautiful Mineral Spring Park on Highway 20 in Williamston, SC, for our 2014 Homesteading Festival. We'll be in full swing from 9AM - 4PM on Saturday, October 4 - free admission and free classes!  

Classes and instructors include:

9:00AM Plant Walk and 10:30AM Herbs for Winter Wellness
Herbalist Robin McGee, Wild Earth Botanicals.
  Robin is a long-time community herbalist who teaches across the Southeast.  Her areas of expertise include foraging, wildcrafting, tincturing, salve and soap-making, and fermenting.  Robin will lead a plant walk in the park and teach an Herbs for Winter Wellness course that will include a Fire Cider-making demonstration.

Nat Bradford, Eco Art, LLC. 
Nat is the owner of Eco Art LLC, a landscaping company that specializes in edible plantings and restorative and permaculture-based design.  Nat has revived his family's heirloom watermelon - the Bradford melon - and has been growing and selling the melons to support his nonprofit organization Watermelons for Water.

12:30PM Easy Mushroom Growing Projects
Tradd Cotter, Mushroom Mountain.  Tradd and his wife Olga own and operate Mushroom Mountain.  Tradd is the instructor for SC DHEC's mushroom certification course (for harvesting & selling wild mushrooms), and author of Organic Mushroom Farming and Mycoremediation.  Tradd will teach 3 Easy Mushroom Cultivation Projects at Home: Growing on Logs, Coffee, and Wood Chips and will host a book signing during the festival.

Sara Harding, Liberated Landscapes.  Sara is a Permaculture Design Certified Consultant at Liberated Landscapes and is an administrator and blogger for the SC Upstate Permaculture Society (SCUPS).  Sara will be teaching us how to make vine baskets.
